The window for tax year 2022 closed on 15 April 2026, so the oldest year still open is generally 2023, due by 15 April 2027.
How: File the missing return. Get old wage forms free with IRS Get Transcript (irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript). A refund can be held if later returns are missing, and can be used to pay tax, child support or other federal debts first.
